A Lifetime of Color, Sanford Adventures Study Art, Create Art, Play Art Games and Teach Art. Study art includes short lessons on each of the elements and principles of art, color concepts (such as warm and cool colors, complementary colors and more), linear and atmospheric perspective, a dozen units on different media, 24 specific periods or styles of art, and an even longer lists of artists. This is not your typical commercial site. It contains more useful material than many "educational" sites. Includes techniques and demonstrations, and lesson plans for teachers.

A. Pintura Art Detective An online game about art history and art composition. Playing a detective with a degree in art history, the player assists a distraught woman who asks you, the detective, to identify the artist who painted a canvas she has discovered in her grandfather's attic. To do so, the player must examine paintings by six artists. Examples highlight the concept of composition, style or subject. Ages 4th grade and up. Questions and a key are included on the site under teacher resources.

Museum of Modern Art Art Safari
Includes "Look at Paintings and Sculpture" which prompts students to interact by answering questions based on the paintings subject matter, Make your Own Art and Visitor's Art Display. Requires the plug in "x-director." When I previewed this site it was experiencing technical difficult and had lost much of it's functionality.

Crayola Creativity Central
Print and color cards. Includes 500 "Inspiring Ideas." Registration required to access ideas. Teacher area includes Lesson Plans, Art Advocacy, Techniques, Curriculum ideas, and the Creative Quote of the day. More useful as a teacher resource than educational or entertaining for students.
